Textiles with gradated stripes containing small patterns and often done in warp compound weave (tate nishiki). Although most commonly multi-colored striped textiles were used on the diagonal as edging material or as lining for a box, there are also examples of whole mats made from fabric with gradated stripes used horizontally.
