後世の袿(うちぎ)や小袖のように、正面の領(えり)（襟）の上前と下前とを引き違えて斜めに重ね合わせる着用法。

A garment with V-neck and overlapping front panels. In the Nara period, ceremonial courtier’s garments had crossed V-neck construction, in contrast to the round-collar courtier’s robes used in the Heian period. The “large sleeve” ōsode is one example.
