接腰(せつよう)setsuyō
袴の裾さばきを良くするため、袴の上からはいた衣装。宝庫には唐古楽の破陣楽接腰(はじんらくのせつよう)、唐散楽の女舞接腰と嗔面接腰などが伝わっている。

Setsuyō
Leggings. A pair of leg coverings that reach from the ankles to somewhere on the upper thigh. The cylindrical form tapers towards the ankle and is sewn along the side and seams. The upper edge is cut in a diagonal from the inner leg to the upper thigh, with a cloth cord attached to the highest point for securing it. The setsuyō in the Shōsō-in have nishiki patterned fabric lined with plain-weave silk.
