Morus alba is native to East Asia and produces the leaves used to feed silk worms. A fast-growing, flowering deciduous tree, it produces edible berries that range in color from white to dark red. The heartwood is dark brown, the outer rings light. Easy to carve, it has a straight, uniform grain.
