クスノキ（樟、楠）(くすのき)kusunoki
クスノキ科の常緑喬木(きょうぼく)。高さ三十メートル以上になる。材は硬く、耐湿・耐久性に優れ、特殊な香気がある。仏像や工芸品、建築、船の材料として用いられたほか、樟脳(しょうのう)や樟脳油が作られた。

Camphor
Cinnamomum camphora is a large tree with evergreen leaves that flowers in spring and produces small berries in the fall. The beautifully grained wood of the trunk and the dense woodgrain of the roots (bennan) were used to make boxes and furniture. They were also decoratively laminated on more common woods. Oils from the wood produce camphor essence and incense.
