Kumihimo
Cords made by interlacing threads in a repeated pattern. The threads are packed close together by beating (uchi) them down with a spatula. These cords are sometimes called uchihimo. Their names reflect the appearance of their cross sections: round (maru-uchi), flat (hira-uchi), and square (kaku-uchi). Sashes, cords, ties, edgings, and banner parts are made from kumihimo cords.
