平織(ひらおり)hiraori
Plain weave
The most stable and fundamental weave structure, in which each warp successively passes over one and under one weft and each weft successively passes over one and under one warp. Plain-weave textiles in the Shōsō-in include those made of silk, such as ashiginu tax silk and hiraginu, and those made of bast-fibers (asanuno) like hemp or ramie.
