アケビ(あけび)akebi
アケビ科の蔓性の落葉低木。山野に生え、秋には長楕円形の実をつける。実は熟すると縦に裂け、果肉は甘く食用となる。木部は「木通(もくつう)」として漢方薬になり、蔓は籠や椅子などを編むのに使用される。

Akebia
Akebia quinata are flowering vines with edible leaves. The fruits have purple rinds and black seeds. The long fibers of the vine skins and their round core are used for basketry.
