麻紙(まし)mashi
麻の繊維を原料にして漉(す)いた紙。染めたものを総称して色麻紙(いろまし)といい、その染め色に従って黄(おう)麻紙、緑(りょく)麻紙などと呼ぶ。染めないものは、白(はく)麻紙という。

Bast-fiber paper
Paper made from hemp or other grass bast fibers. Those that have been dyed are collectively called colored mashi, and individually referred to by the name of their color. Undyed mashi is referred to as white, even if it is in fact tan or brownish.
