砒素(ひそ)hiso
Arsenic
Arsenic (As 33) is a metalloid and contained in many minerals in nature. Some ancient Japanese mined copper, primarily from the Naganobori copper mines in what is now Yamaguchi prefecture, had traces of arsenic, thus becoming a component of bronze that helped to harden it. Orpiment and realgar are arsenic sulfides used as pigments, toxins, and medicines.
