漆などの塗料(とりょう)を塗布(とふ)する前に、木胎(もくたい)や皮胎(ひたい)などの素地に布を被(かぶ)せて下地を作る技法。

Nunokise
A lacquer technique where strips of cloth are pasted onto a wood or leather structure before lacquering. This strengthens the piece and was used for items like lacquered leather boxes.
