第70回 正倉院展、2018年
Chōhankin
Compound weave fabric woven in stripes of two or more colors. Generally, the textile has small motifs inside some of the stripes. Most examples of chōhankin in the Shōsō-in are woven in warp compound weave, tate nishiki, though a few are in weft compound weave. Unlike ungen nishiki, the stripes in chōhankin do not have gradated coloring.
