Silver mouth turban
Turbo argyrostomus Linnaeus. This is a snail-shaped shell with spikes that can be found around Ogasawara and Tanegashima Islands in Japan and then south to the Philippines and Australia. It lives on rock in intertidal areas to about thirty meters deep. When the outer curst is removed, a lustrous silver shell remains. The inner shell is used for mother-of-pearl inlay.
