Kyōkunshō
This performance instruction book written in 1233 by Koma no Chikazane (1177–1242), a gagaku musician at Kōfukuji, collects various oral transmissions related to court music (gagaku) and dance as well as gigaku. It is an important resource on instruments and performance practices as they were known at the end of the Heian period.
