カケス(かけす)kakesu
カラス科カケス属の鳥。全長は三三センチ程度。日本では屋久島以北に分布し、森林地帯に生息する。特に羽の基部には美しい模様があり、白・青・黒の細い黄斑が特徴的である。

Eurasian jay
Garrulus glandarius. The native Japanese jay belongs to the brandtii group of Eurasian jays, which are a type of crow in the Corvidae family. Known for its chatty voice, it has an overall grey tone, a white throat with black stripe, a streaked crown and a reddish head, wings with blue panels, and a black tail.
